The Twelve Steps

1. We admitted that we were powerless over our dependencies- that our lives had become unmanageable. 2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. 3. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him. 4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. 5. We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. 6. We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. 7. We humbly asked him to remove our shortcomings. 8. We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all. 9. We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. 10. We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. 11. We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood him, praying only for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry it out. 12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

       The Serenity Prayer

God grant me The serenity to accept the things I cannot Change, The courage to change the things I can, The wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time. Accepting hardship as the pathway To peace, Taking, as He did, this sinful world As it is, Not as I Would have it, Trusting that He will make all things Right If I surrender to His will; That I may be reasonably happy In this life, and Supremely happy with Him forever In the next.

2nd Chance Director Ralph Chavez

Ralph is man of many talents. After many battles with alcohol, he finally surrendered it all to God and has been sober for 12 yrs. He knows how hard it is to get free from that bondage and that is why he is the Director of 2nd Chance. He wants to give back and help those who struggle with not only alcohol but also with drugs. He knows that he is not able to do this on his own but needs the direction and guidance from his Lord and Savior. Ralph started attending Park Temple and has been here for 13 years. He has taken on many roles here at Park Temple Baptist Church. He is the Chairman of the Mission Board, he is a van driver, he was head usher but recently handed the reigns over. He does all the grocery shopping for our Freedom Academy Daycare. One thing you will never hear from Ralph is grumbling, he loves the people he directs with a passion and would give anything to have each and every one of them find sobriety, as well as salvation. Ralph Chavez has overseen 2nd Chance Ministry for 10 yrs. He has been a blessing to Park Temple Baptist Church, Freedom Academy Daycare, and as well as Pastor Garza
